Working in New Zealand

Ministry of Social Development

Who We Are

Our policy advice and service delivery are underpinned by research and evaluation, building the evidence base that enables us to monitor the well-being of different population groups and identify issues that change and develop over time.

Much of our work is based on collaboration with other government agencies, with business and employers, and with community and voluntary organisations.

We improve the lives of New Zealanders in many different ways. We help people move into sustainable employment, provide services for families and improve the well-being of young people, senior citizens and people with disabilities.

We help strengthen the relationship between government and the community and voluntary sector and provide income support and other services to almost 1.2 million people. We lead social development and research, and advise Government on social policy.

Our Commitment:We are committed to providing a high level of service to our clients and a challenging, supportive environment for our staff.

Our People: If you are passionate about social development and would like to work for an organisation where you can make a difference, we invite you to join our team.
