Who we are
Mighty River Power is a New Zealand-owned integrated energy generation business, providing 22% of New Zealand’s total electricity supply. We own and/or manage a portfolio of electricity generation assets, currently 89% of which generate from renewable resources. These include the Waikato River Hydro Power scheme, which utilises Lake Taupo and nine power stations, the Southdown cogeneration facility and several geothermal generation plants located in the Taupo and Eastern Bay of Plenty areas. Further geothermal projects, wind generation and small-medium hydro generation are currently being explored or constructed.
Mercury and Metrix
Mighty River Power’s energy retailer, Mercury Energy, provides electricity and gas services to over 350,000 electricity customers and approximately 30,000 gas customers. Our metering business, Metrix, provides traditional as well as state-of-the-art metering and data logging systems to other electricity retail businesses as well as to residential and commercial customers.
