About the vaccines
Intervet Schering-Plough Animal Health New Zealand manufactures and distributes bacterial vaccines (primarily clostridal vaccines), which protect against a variety of diseases in sheep, cattle, deer and pigs. A total of 29 different vaccines are manufactured in Upper Hutt. The manufacturing process is by anaerobic and aerobic bacterial fermentation using large-scale processes. 85% of product manufactured at Upper Hutt is exported to United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Australia, the Middle East, Africa and South America. The Upper Hutt production facility was commissioned in 1993, and meets all regulatory requirements for our global markets.
