What we do
- prevent injury through nationwide social marketing campaigns and targeted injury prevention programmes
- buy health and disability support services to treat, care for and rehabilitate injured people
- determine whether claims for injury are covered by ACC
- provide entitlements, including financial compensation, to those eligible for assistance
- collect levies (these are like premiums) to pay for the services we provide
Last year alone, ACC
- processed and managed 1.6 million claims from injured New Zealanders
- spent $1.6 billion on treatment, rehabilitation and compensation
- helped pay for more than 7 million visits to doctors, physiotherapists and other health providers
- helped fund 250,000 rehabilitation services
