ONTRACK is a state-owned enterprise, which owns and operates the national railway infrastructure. ONTRACK Infrastructure Ltd is the maintenance arm of ONTRACK.

We are a national organisation operating from Whangarei in the far north to Invercargill in the south. We currently employee 870 employees, with this number expected to grow in the next year.

Who We Are

Background

ONTRACK is the trading name for the New Zealand Railways Corporation. From September 2004 it has owned, maintained and managed the railway infrastructure, following the purchase by the Crown of the rail network.

ONTRACK

  • Owns, maintains and operates the New Zealand rail network
  • Provides rail operators with access to the tracks
  • Provides advice to the crown on rail infrastructure issues
  • Manages 18,000 hectares of land and leases on behalf of the government.

 

Network Maintenance and Development

ONTRACK is responsible for the maintenance and renewals of tracks, signals, tunnels, bridges, passenger platforms, telecommunications, electric power supply and associated infrastructure. ONTRACK also designs and constructs additional railway infrastructure across New Zealand.

Due to a rapid increase in growth ONTRACK and ONTRACK Infrastructure Ltd have a number of vacancies right across the country. Some include:

  • Project Engineers to work on the three main projects around the country. Ideally we are looking for people from a civil, structural or electrical engineering background with experience working in an infrastructure type industry.
  • Qualified Electricians to work within signalling. Previous experience with railway signaling systems would be advantageous.
  • Track Machine Operators and Fitters. You must have experience in the operation and/or maintenance of tampers and other track machines.
  • A wide range of infrastructure staff to work within track, structures and on the overhead electrical system. This is physical, outdoors work.
