Planning
Many people who move overseas have only ever previously moved within the UK. It is important to recognise that international removals are totally different from UK domestic removals offered by ordinary removal companies. Apart from the packing, loading and documentation differences, it is important to start your planning earlier.
PSS recommend that you request an estimate three to six months prior to your departure. Because your goods are being shipped overseas the proximity of the removal company’s depot to your residence is of minor relevance when compared with the advantages in service and price which can be obtained from a specialist company which handles large numbers of international removals. PSS operates throughout the UK; we have estimators and mobile packing units covering the whole of the British Isles and can offer a more professional and more cost effective service from anywhere in the UK to anywhere overseas.

We will be pleased to arrange a home visit from one of our estimators, who will survey your international removal requirements, offer advice and explain our packing methods. We will then send you an estimate for the full door-to-door removal of your goods from your UK home to your new home in New Zealand. If you are undecided about taking certain items we will be pleased to offer advice and issue estimates with and without these items. Our estimator’s visit will be followed by a written estimate of the door-to-door costs, accompanied by a list of the items to be sent and a cubic volume.

Full/Sole Use Container Removals
If you have a sufficient quantity of household effects to fill an entire container, we will export pack and wrap all your possessions, number and list the packages, load and seal the container at your residence in your presence and arrange immediate shipment. The transit time is approximately five to seven weeks to arrival in New Zealand.
Shared Container Removals
If you do not have a sufficient quantity of household effects to fill an entire container, we will export pack and wrap your possessions in your home, mark, number and list every package and return them to our warehouse for loading into our share a container service. The transit time is approximately 8-12 weeks to arrival in New Zealand.
Quarantine
All shipments entering New Zealand are subject to an inspection by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (MAF). Quarantine inspection charges cannot be included in our door-to-door estimates because the charge varies according to the amount of time spent on each inspection. The quarantine officer can order individual items to be fumigated/cleaned or treated and the costs for this will also be charged to you. We are able to offer many associated services, including marine insurance and storage both in the UK and in New Zealand.
