How do I apply for a visa?
The visa process varies depending on the type of visa you’re applying for. You can start the process by checking the Immigration New Zealand to see which type of visa you need to apply for.
You can download forms and guides about documentation for each application type from the Immigration New Zealand website.
You can also find useful tools such as a list of Immigration New Zealand branches and a fee calculator.
Once you have gathered your documentation, submit the application to your local Immigration New Zealand office.
Please be sure to include:
- a completed application form
- the application fee
- your passport
- passport sized photograph; and
- all the required additional documentation.
If you submit an incomplete application, it will not be able to be accepted and may be returned to you.
Once you have submitted an application, Immigration New Zealand will assess your application according to the policy for your application type.
What should I do first – apply for a job or try to obtain a visa?
For most types of work visa you need to secure a job offer before you submit your application.
However, there are some types of work visas that do not require you to have an offer of employment. These include working holiday visas, or work visas for partners of New Zealand citizens or residents.
