Working in New Zealand

Kirsty Marlow moved to Queenstown

I work fewer hours and it’s less stressful

One of the reasons I decided to move to New Zealand was that I had worked with some Kiwis back home. I came out for a holiday, had an interview and then just had to go back home to sort out the paper work. Works Infrastructure offered me a role originally located in Dunedin and then I transferred to Queenstown with my partner. I now work four days a week since returning from maternity leave.

Since I have been in New Zealand, Works Infrastructure has been extremely helpful and supportive. They have made sure that I have fitted in from a work and personal perspective. There are a few differences between my job in New Zealand and the one I had in the UK. I was in construction and now I am in maintenance. I work fewer hours and it’s less stressful.

The things I like about living in Queenstown are, that you are so close to two fantastic ski fields and you don’t have to queue. There are lots of lakes and areas for hill walking. I have participated in other outdoor activities that I never would have done back in the UK.
