Working in New Zealand

Plenty of Everything! - Priority One

Plenty of Opportunity

Come and live where New Zealanders most want to live – the Bay of Plenty. One of New Zealand’s most popular holiday destinations and a thriving port city, the Bay is bursting with opportunities for skilled migrants.

Plenty of Lifestyle

It’s the quality of life that sets the Bay of Plenty apart! In a country renowned for its natural beauty, the Bay of Plenty is one of the most picturesque places in New Zealand. The region offers space and peace, along with world-class surfing beaches, bush-clad mountains, beautiful rivers and great facilities – all minutes from the city centre. With a stunning harbour and pristine coastline, water-based activities such as sailing, fishing, surfing and swimming are popular. Homes are affordable, you can live minutes away from work and the climate produces lush, plentiful gardens.

Plenty of Outdoor Adventure

Adventurers can immerse themselves in a vast array of activities from white water rafting to kayaking, scuba diving, parasailing, windsurfing and skydiving. For those with a more laid-back lifestyle in mind, there are bush and waterfront walking trails, golf courses, wineries and markets to visit. The region’s sunny, temperate climate ensures these activities can be enjoyed all year round by the whole family.

Plenty of Recreation

The city of Tauranga is well known for events held throughout the year highlighting food and wine, music, arts and culture, and sporting spectacles. It also has a thriving café and restaurant scene and a diverse nightlife to suit all tastes. Conveniently situated within a two hour drive of half of New Zealand’s population - yet it’s just five minutes to the beach, fifteen minutes to the bush and two hours to the ski fields.

Plenty of Business

The region’s rapid growth and thriving economy provide a stimulating environment for leading-edge companies – meaning employment opportunities are plentiful! The business community is full of entrepreneurial spirit and drive, excelling in horticulture, boatbuilding, information technology, marine services, transport and distribution, manufacturing, engineering, fisheries, aquaculture and food processing. The Bay is also home to innovative and interesting niche manufacturers who concentrate on export markets. The largest port in the country is Port of Tauranga, providing world-class access to global markets. For this reason a number of New Zealand’s largest exporters are here.

Plenty of Educational Opportunities

New Zealand’s education system is world renowned. With the Bay of Plenty the most sought after place to live, the region attracts teachers of a high calibre and has excellent facilities. With 25 primary, four intermediate and eight secondary schools, exam pass rates are among the highest in the country. Tertiary education facilities in the region include a university and a polytechnic, as well as a number of private training institutions providing practical, skills-based courses.

Plenty of Assistance

Priority One is the economic development organisation for the Bay of Plenty. We provide a free migrant assistance service and will work with you every step of the way to make your dream of moving to New Zealand a reality.
