With this continued expansion, we have a fabulous opportunity for an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in Christchurch. Your role will be to apply your geotechnical expertise to a full range of projects throughout the South Island and wider New Zealand. Working within the team and supporting the Geotechnical Team Leader, you will enjoy the additional responsibility of assisting in market development, client management and the growth of the geotechnical team within Christchurch region, providing the foundations for you to move into a management role later.
Your role will be varied, so you’ll enjoy the exposure to the following areas; The technical review and monitoring of geotechnical projects, establishing and building on new and existing relationships, and winning repeat business. You’ll be preparing submissions in response to tender, and client requests. Your job management role will include financial management, programming, quality control, and managing technical inputs from team members and sub consultants. Design management will also be part of your repertoire and will include preparation of geotechnical reports for urban and rural roads, highways, land development, civil structures, water and sewer pipelines and associated facilities, both in New Zealand and abroad.
You’ll be qualified with a BE (Civil) degree or something similar. Chartered or near chartered with a master’s qualification in a geotechnical discipline will also be very advantageous. We’ll be expecting that you have a minimum of 7 years experience, and within a consulting environment is preferred. Strong communication skills both verbal and written are sought for, as is someone who enjoys a senior role and a challenge. High levels of self-motivation, energy and confidence to motivate, and mentor junior members are also qualities we value.
