Job Description:
Senior .NET Developer
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
1. To play a senior role in a a team of.NET developers designing and building complex enterprise-scale solutions for our New Zealand customers, including:
o Communication with clients at a number of levels (requirements, analysis and design, technical implementation, deployment and testing)
o Understanding the client’s solution environment and architecting appropriate technical solutions.
o Setting up development environments (hardware + software) some components of which may be shared with the client (e.g. source control).
o Provide input on best-practice development processes and procedures. o Assist with estimating and planning of the technical solution(s)
o Make a major contribution towards the design and development of .NET projects
2. Provide input into and assistance with resource planning, recruitment, staff development and performance reviews
3. To identify and pursue opportunities to grow our .NET capability
Total package between NZ$85,000 to NZ$110,000 depending on skills and experience. This will be commensurate with experience and will include a 10% performance related component.
Technical Skills and Experience Required
.NET Framework
Experience with a focus on C#, ASP.NET, Web Forms, ADO.NET, .NET 2.0+ (.NET 3.x is desirable)
3+ years
Web Development
Proven experience with ASP.NET 2.0/3.5 in building enterprise content management and e-business solutions, XHTML, CSS 2.1, JavsaScript. Candidate should be able to showcase at least three major public websites that they have been heavily involved with that demonstrate their web development expertise.

Web Services
Experience with Web Services and Object Remoting with focus on XML (DOM, Xpath, XSLT) HTTP, SOAP, WSDL, UDDI

OO Analysis and Design
In depth knowledge of Object Oriented techniques, UML and Design Patterns
4+ years
Project Management
Understanding of project management concepts, processes and issues. Experience with MS project.
1+ years
Change Management, Version Control and Deployment
Understanding of change management and deployment issues specific to .NET platform. Experience with change management and version control tools. Team Foundation Server experience preferred.
2+ years
SQL Server
Ability to read/write SQL, design Stored Procedures and database schemas and access data via ADO.NET. SQL Server 2005 preferred.
1+ years
Integration
Experience in Biz Talk and, to a lesser extent, other integration platforms, is a preference.
1+ years
Qualifications
Degree certified in computer science or equivalent.
MCPD (or MCAD / MCSD) preferred
Non-technical Skills, Personal Skills and Aptitude
Communication:
Excellent written and spoken English is mandatory. Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely complex technical issues by phone and email. Must be able to communicate with technical, non-technical, internal and client personal and use the appropriate level of technical detail.
Team Member:
Must be willing to work in a team environment and understand the advantages, responsibilities and issues involved. As a senior in the company, support the team leader by setting an appropriate example to more junior members of the team.
Market experience:
Project Management:
Must be able to balance and prioritise technical and any delegated management responsibilities. Must be able to identify and balance short, medium and long term objectives
Adaptability and Flexibility:
Must be able to work with incomplete requirements and proactively pursue missing information. In addition to NZ projects, the client undertakes large projects with UK clients, in the event of involvement with such projects, the candidate will be expected to work flexible hours to accommodate communication with UK and to potentially spend 1-2 weeks in UK per year if required.
Commercial:
Able to identify commercial opportunities to expand .NET development capability. Interested in growing this part of the business beyond the confines of the initial projects / clients.
