Power Systems Engineer/Modeller

Location: Wellington, Kapiti Coast

That’s right, it’s a job that will appeal to analytical modellers, but only if you passionate about Renewable energy such as Wind Power.

Our client is an international consultancy, specialising in grid integration of renewable and distributed generation systems. This organisation have recently started up in New Zealand and are already growing to the point where they need to add another staff member to their Wellington CBD based team.

This role will have you:
> Involved in key aspects of Power System Analysis for grid integration
> Negotiating strategies and connection methods with NSPs
> Producing Technical reports on Power System analysis studies
> Developing your knowledge of national regulations and legislations that will affect your role
> Carrying out feasibility studies on existing and Greenfield developments
> Carrying out power system and network studies, evaluation of compliance with codes, etc.

In general, undertake static and dynamic modelling, studies and determine the best ways for your clients to connect their generation assets to the national grid.

To do your job successfully, you will:
> Be tertiary qualified in Electrical Engineering or similar
> Have a minimum of 3 -4 years experience in power systems analysis
> Have an in-depth knowledge of the PSSE or DigSILENT modelling packages
> Have above average interpersonal and communications skills
> Be a good negotiator
> Have good numeracy and computer skills

Whilst we are ideally looking for an Expert in this field, we will consider people with a good working knowledge of the Power industry and grid integration and could also consider a New Zealand Trained graduate with good modelling abilities and a desire to get involved in the power industry.
