Capacity is the Water and Drainage Asset Management Company for Wellington, Lower and Upper Hutt City Councils.
Capacity operates as an independent service provider to these Councils, and manages in excess of 4500Km piping, 100 reservoirs and 140 pumping stations throughout the Wellington Region.
As our service grows, we need an experienced Investigation & Design Engineer (Drainage and Water Assets) to join our team.
IN THIS PETONE (NEAR WELLINGTON) BASED ROLE, YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
INVESTIGATION
Carry out tests and investigations into performance of water, drainage systems and components.
Undertake monitoring and reporting of water flow and quality.
Leak detection and pressure management activities.
Data management, including reporting of rainfall and water supply modelling.
Reporting on investigation findings and involving the relevant Capacity Teams.
WATER/DRAINAGE DESIGN
Design solutions to water and drainage problems.
Perform and record design calculations.
Advise on requirements for contracts and tenders.
Review and approve designs commissioned from external consultants.
There is of course more to it than that, but this will give you an idea!
IT'S A ROLE THAT WILL REQUIRE YOU TO:
Be BE or NZCE (Civil) or similar qualified
Have a minimum of 5 years experience, preferably in supply and drainage
Have a mix of design and project management experience
Be physically fit in order to carry out field inspections and to enter some of the piping, etc.
Possess a sound understanding of current legislation, codes and the RMA.
Have good computer skills.
Its a varied and challenging role that will require a person not afraid of getting stuck in - but not getting stuck!
