With ultimate responsibility for your project’s success – and the independence to get on with the job – you’ll be working on major projects right from the concept stage, through detailed design to completion. Yours will be the face of the company with their clients and contractors, so you will be committed to keeping the communication lines open at all times. For this exciting, demanding but exceptionally rewarding role, you’ll need a calm, organised and determined approach – not to mention impressive people skills. Participate in regular co-ordination, communication and training forums within the Company, you will be a key player in getting projects finalised on time and within budget.
You will work with the Foremen, Estimators, other Project Managers and Commercial Manager and be generally responsible for the financial administration of individual or several projects running simultaneously. Working on projects you must be able to keep clients notified on variations and make sure variations are priced in and submitted. Maintain register of all variation notifications, submissions and agreements. Carry out monthly budget and cost comparisons and submit and finalise accounts on time. Also ensure that no employees of the Company or Subcontractors engaged on the project make comment or release material to the media or to the public at large that are not verified and not factual.
Some of your key tasks will be to do on-site cost studies of alternative procedures and materials. Progressive and final project cost reports in accordance with Company policy. Liaise with Project Manager (or foreman) to set up budget structure and proposed procedures. Progressive reviews and updates of project budgets and project performance forecasts. Preparation and settlement of progress claims and final contract claims with Clients and Consultants taking variations into account . Preparation and pursuit of financial aspects of extension of time and acceleration claims. You must also be able to set up subcontract and supplier agreements and do the collation of and reporting on all bonds, insurances and the liabilities.
