My client, a major software development company, requires a Senior QA Tester to join their award winning development team based in Auckland. Due to ongoing growth, the company is expanding its testing resources and has decided to add an additional Senior QA Tester to work alongside its current crop of people.
To win this role, successful candidates must have a minimum of 2-3 + years of commercial testing experience, preferably including previous experience at a software development house.
Core skills required include:
* Writing and executing test cases, defect logging, various manual testing techniques/processes
* Specification analysis and creating test plans (including planning and sizing projects)
* Hands-on experience with SMTP Email Servers and/or Proxy Servers (e.g. setting up, configuring, administrating)
* Reasonable knowledge of Web Servers, LDAP, DNS, MS SQL Server
* Test Automation tool experience (such as Mercury Quick test Pro or Ruby, WATIR)
Due to the unique nature of the company’s products, you must be IT savvy. If you can’t explain a proxy server or an enterprise directory, this role may not be for you. There is a huge learning curve on these products and it will take time to get up to speed. The expectation is that within 6 months you will be leading your own QA projects.
In terms of attributes, candidates must have excellent written and spoken English, be able to communicate clearly and effectively with other team members and be highly attentive to detail (to the point of being pedantic). You must also be a career tester and want to remain in the technical testing field for the long term.
