Electrix currently has vacancies for a number of Technicians with experience in sub-transmission in Auckland, central North Island and the South Island. There are many opportunities for personal growth and professional development in this exciting and challenging role.

Your main duties will be to provide a specialist technical power system and electrical protection to the company’s Power Services Division.

Skills and Qualities Required: 

  • Conducting tests on transmission power transformers of above 33kV maximum voltage and above 10 MVA.
  • Conducting maintenance and/or commissioning tests on instrument transformers.
  • Conducting maintenance and/or commissioning tests on high voltage power cable & terminals up to 220kV.
  • Conducting maintenance tests on high voltage rotating plant.
  • Conducting acceptance and maintenance tests on distance protection relays.
  • Repairing and testing protection relays.
  • Using and maintaining test instruments used within the HV electricity industry.
  • Conducting tests on distribution oil filled power transformers 33kV max voltage & below 10 MVA.
  • Jointing, terminating, testing and commissioning specialist communications cables systems.
  • Carrying out maintenance work to client specifications
  • Installing/maintaining substation and other high voltage equipment, as per job instructions and specifications, meeting current regulations and standards.
  • Responding to emergency fault breakdown work within planned response times.
  • Commissioning, servicing and/or repairing communication systems between electricity supply substations.
  • Conducting inspection and servicing tests on control instrumentation and indication hardwired system.
  • Conducting insulating oil sampling and voltage break down tests.
  • Conducting commissioning and maintenance tests on multiple input protection systems.
  • Applying and removing safety measures in an electricity supply environment.
  • Managing electricity supply work control systems.
  • Ensuring the highest standards of health, safety, environmental and quality performance are achieved.
