Joining our dedicated team within the Pain Service of Dunedin Hospital you will get the opportunity to expand your knowledge by learning about pain plus provide support to patients with persistent pain.
This multidisciplinary team provides a tertiary service to clients with persistent pain, through the formulation, prescription and implementation of clinical care and treatments. As the clinical psychologist within this team you will participate in multi-disciplinary assessments involving an extended first visit with the client, also identifying potential clients who will benefit from education and skills building groups, and participating in facilitating these groups several times a year. In some instances short term individual interventions may be appropriate. You will be willing and eager to learn about pain, its impact, potential interventions and application of cognitive behavioural approaches to clients. You will be adept at working autonomously but also as part of a team. You will have existing knowledge of relevant and appropriate interventions and knowledge of sound assessment techniques. You will bring to this role previous experience in clinical psychological assessments and an interest in working with adults. You will be self motivated, professional, flexible and enthusiastic about the service and your ability to assist and support clients. Team members value learning from and assisting each other with a focus on helping clients manage their pain better. You will be a NZ Registered Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist Scope of Practice. Experience in pain management an advantage but not essential.
