This is a unique engineering opportunity involving:
• A combination of technical design and project management.
• Structures maintenance, new works design and infrastructure management.
• Travel around New Zealand to undertake inspections and supervise jobs.
• Have exposure to a wide variety of work.
The main emphasis of the job positions is in the field of structural (bridge) engineering. However, knowledge of general civil engineering is also required. Given that the NZ railway is currently one of the fastest growing industries, these are great career development opportunities.
The ONTRACK Structures Engineering team is responsible for the network’s 2000 rail bridges, tunnels, retaining walls, river works, geotechnical issues etc. The team is also actively involved in developing and maintaining our Infrastructure Asset Management systems. In the 2007 New Zealand Excellence in Engineering Awards, the Structures Engineering team won in two categories.
To succeed in one of these roles you will need:
• To be a team player and possess excellent communication skills.
• A tertiary civil engineering qualification.
• Experience in conceptual and detailed design of bridges/structures.
• Experience with the preparation and management of tender and contract documents.
• The ability to make sound/timely judgments and decisions based on facts, data or expert opinion.
• Attention to detail.
• Physically fit in order to undertake field work
