Purpose Statement
You will be expected to teach microeconomic theory at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The ability to teach undergraduate econometrics and international trade would also be an advantage. You will also be expected to supervise postgraduate students.
To prepare, present and examine papers offered by the Department of Economics & Finance.
To participate in research activities leading to appropriate publications.
To contribute towards the Department's administrative activities.
To assist in mentoring and motivating other staff, particularly junior staff in teaching and research activities.

Key Accountability Areas Teaching/Supervision
1. Undertake undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
2. Develop and teach major curriculum components of courses.
3. Coordinate and administer the teaching of subjects.
4. Supervise the research activities of graduate and undergraduate students and assist in the supervision of students/ research projects at a postgraduate level.
5. Undertake continuing personal professional development.

Research
1. Undertake an active, appropriate and viable personal research programme or participate in team-based research.
2. Publish papers or other scholarly works in academic journals and review papers and the like.
3. Present research and act as a discussant at academic conferences.
4. Generate research funding.

Service to the Community
1. Participate in community service activities that further advance the profession or field and which are consistent with the University’s Charter and Strategic Plan.
2. Assist the Department to develop an environment which gives effect to the obligations of the Treaty of Waitangi.

University Responsibilities
1. Serve on University and/or Department committees.
2. Ensure the observance of University policy and codes of practice in all teaching, research, community service and administrative practices.
3. Contribute to the development of a Department working environment of teamwork and cooperation.

Person Specification   

Qualifications
You will have a PhD in economics or have nearly completed PhD qualification in economics. Both junior and more senior applicants will be considered

Experience
You should have some record of research success, or at least be able to produce evidence of such research potential.
