Southland Hospital is one of New Zealand’s most modern having been rebuilt six years ago. A secondary level facility you’ll find we have first class facilities, you’ll have first rate peer support and a breadth of caseload you’ll find stimulating.

You will be the integral part of this Rehabilitation Team which consists of around 40 nurses, 2 Geriatricians, 2 Senior House Officers and 9 Allied Health Staff seeing approximately 420 patients per year.

The 30 bed Assessment, Treatment and Rehabilitation Unit spoils you with its modern layout with 4 bed and single rooms all with ensuite bathroom facilities as well as a purpose built “Assessment Flat” which allows patients to trial living back in a home-like environment.  The Unit is co-located opposite therapy services which includes a gymnasium and hydrotherapy pool. 

Treating older people presenting with complex age-related problems or disability will see you working in a variety of settings from the inpatient unit, outpatient clinic to community visits. Links with the General Medicine department, as well as other specialties, are fostered and encouraged and excellent support is provided
