We have a vacancy for a permanent O & G Consultant to join our dedicated team of 4 Specialists, 2 Registrars and 2 Senior House Officers.
There are approximately 1300 births per year at Southland Hospital and a further 200-300 in the rural areas. The department consists of a 14 room maternity unit with 4 birthing rooms, a level two, 5 cot neonatal unit and a dedicated Woman's Health unit. The service is supported by a team of experienced midwives, obstetric, gynaecology and colposcopy nurses.
You will be expected to work an average of 50 hours per week (inclusive of on-call) and participate in a 1 in 4 on call roster. This will include participation in outpatient clinics in Queenstown, Te Anau and Gore. The successful applicant will also be required to undertake regular colposcopy clinics.
Educational development is a priority with daily obstetric tutorials and weekly teaching sessions. The department is accredited for O&G training by RANZCOG and is affiliated to the Dunedin School of Medicine.
Applicants must have completed their specialist training and have, or be eligible to obtain vocational registration with Medical Council of New Zealand
