Applicants are expected to possess a Planning qualification and a PhD. Academic and teaching experience would be preferred but those with strong professional experience backgrounds will also be given serious consideration.
Applicants with expertise in any aspect of Planning will be considered, but applicants with skills in teaching professional practice in planning at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels will be given special consideration. Applicants with interests in Urban Planning or Natural Resource Planning or Environmental Sustainability and those with experience in the application of spatial tools in Planning (including design and GIS) are also encouraged to apply. Applicants must be members, or be eligible for membership, of a professional Planning body such as the New Zealand Planning Institute, the Planning Institute of Australia, the Royal Town and Planning Institute, Canadian Institute of Planners, the American Institute of Certified Planners or some equivalent body.
The successful applicant will teach at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and may also teach in other areas as required. Responsibilities will include undergraduate and postgraduate teaching including extramural teaching, project and thesis supervision, the development of an active research programme, and contribution to the overall development of the programme through collegial engagement.
