Fixed term and permanent positions available

The Emergency Department (ED) situated at Dunedin Hospital is a Tertiary level service providing emergency care 24/7.

The ED includes a triage area, a rapid assessment area, dedicated resuscitation areas, acute, sub acute and paediatric cubicles. The ED carries out all acute cares, including full patient resuscitation facilities, management of trauma, fractures, injuries etc.

The ED’s vision is to be a centre of clinical care and customer service excellence. The ED has a strong focus on customer service and its success is reliant on effective communication and teamwork.

The department consists of a large medical and nursing team including a Charge Nurse Manager and several Associate Charge Nurse Managers; as well a Clinical Nurse Specialist and a Service Educator. This structure ensures that there is always a senior nurse on shift to co-ordinate, lead and provide clinical support to the nursing team.

Exciting opportunities exist for nurses wanting to develop their skills in this area of nursing including: a comprehensive orientation programme; ongoing development in emergency nursing skills e.g. Trauma Nursing Core Course, Triage Course, and Advanced Life Support.
