Shell Todd Oil Services Limited (STOS) is a pioneering gas and oil operator that has been active in New Zealand for more than 50 years. STOS operates a number of gas fields, production stations and a tank farm for joint venture partners including Shell, Todd Energy, and OMV. These fields include Maui, and Kapuni, and it provides support to Pohokura’s operator Shell Exploration NZ limited (SENZL). Collectively from these fields, STOS/SENZL is responsible for producing the majority of New Zealand’s energy supply.
An outstanding opportunity has arisen for an experienced Financial Accountant to join our team.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to our Financial Controller, you will provide accounting, tax and reporting expertise to support our businesses. You will have a particular focus around direct and indirect tax compliance and management of payroll accounting processes. You will supervise financial transactions, including the prompt review and approval of journals and reconciliations. You will be responsible for the provision of STOS GST data for Joint Venture parties as well as management of application of accounting treatment for the New Zealand Carbon Emissions Trading Scheme. You will ensure utmost compliance with Group reporting requirements and you will manage the in-country working relationship with external auditors as well as being the legislative authority for the GST and Income Tax Acts.
Requirements:
An enthusiastic team player with exceptional communication skills, you will be a fully qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) with significant previous experience in a similar role. Prior exposure to the oil and gas industry or related would be highly regarded. You will have demonstrated leadership skills and be adept at engaging all business stakeholders in both your team and a virtual environment.
