In addition to supermarkets, in every city and town across New Zealand you will find what New Zealanders refer to as ‘dairies’. A dairy is equivalent to a ‘corner shop’ or ‘mini mart’. Vendors may only sell what they grow, farm, pickle, preserve, bake, smoke or catch themselves from within a defined local area, which makes a trip to a local New Zealand farmers market an unbeatable Kiwi experience.
