Marlborough

The Marlborough region is located on the top of the South Island and is mainly famous for its high quality wine and the stunning landscapes of Marlborough Sounds.

Blenheim is the region’s capital and its largest urban area, with approximately 44,500 people. Marlborough is administered by a unitary authority, the Marlborough District Council.

If New Zealand has seen its wines get international recognition, it is much due to the Marlborough wine region. It represents 62% of the total vineyard area in the country.Marlborough’s hot sunny days, followed by cool nights, give the grapes the uniqueness that makes Marlborough’s Sauvignon Blanc a favourite amongst wine lovers and connoisseurs all over the world.

Industries such as aeronautical engineering, tourism and marine farming are also blooming and attracting new people to the region.
