MidCentral District Health Board

Posted on December 14, 2017August 7, 2019 by admin

Have it all with a great career and lifestyle in New Zealand…at MidCentral District Health Board!

Join MidCentral District Health Board and become part of our journey as we continue with our transformational change to establish the organisation as a high performing health system. The transformation involves introducing a system that delivers integrated care by engaging across primary, specialist and community based service providers to provide better health outcomes for the communities we serve.

We have also put in place an Organisational Development Plan for the next 3-5 years which sets out our vision for our people to maximise the contribution they make as a critical enabler to the achievement of our strategic imperatives.

MidCentral District Health Board’s largest secondary care provider, MidCentral Health, is based at Palmerston North Hospital in Palmerston North, in the Manawatu region. Palmerston North Hospital is a 350 bed hospital, which services an urban population of 80,000 and a total population of 168,000. In addition, the hospital is a teaching hospital, and is associated with both Auckland and Otago medical schools.

Situated in the lower half of the North Island of New Zealand, the Manawatu region offers visitors and residents a unique mix of lifestyle by combining rural charm with the convenience of sophisticated living.

Palmerston North in the centre of the Manawatu is a beautiful location, with all modern services and luxuries expected of vibrant cities, including a shopping plaza, a Globe theatrical centre, the Regent and Centre Point theatres, and dozens of hotels/motels, giving Palmerston North a reputation as a conference hub. Palmerston North tertiary education is provided by Massey University and the

International Pacific College. We have excellent primary, intermediate and secondary schooling, both public and private, mixed and single sex. Cost of living is reasonable, housing very affordable, and rural living with stunning views only minutes from town is very achievable.

Those looking for outdoor adventure are well served with excellent hiking, climbing, mountain biking, fishing rivers, hunting parks, camping sites and beaches all in close proximity. Furthermore, the location of the MidCentral district allows for easy access to other regions; including Wellington, New Zealand’s capital city, the wine growing regions of Hawke’s Bay and Wairarapa, as well as the ski fields at Mt Ruapehu in the Central North Island.

Join us and contribute to making a positive impact in the health outcomes of people in the MidCentral district as we pursue our vision of ‘Quality Living, Healthy Lives, Well Communities’.
