Your Role:

Our Rolling Stock Asset Services (RSAS) group has overall responsibility and ownership for managing KiwiRail’s rolling stock assets, including mainline and shunt locomotives, freight and specialist wagons, containers, passenger carriages and other rolling stock vehicles.

We are looking for an experienced Capital Program Delivery Leader who will be responsible for leading collation, prioritisation and delivery of the overall asset-related capital program for RSAS. Reporting to the Executive General Manager – Rolling Stock Asset Services, your role will have accountability for the operation and line management of KiwiRail’s Hutt Workshops (approximately 150 CEA and IEA employees) to deliver the bulk of the capital program, along with coordinating delivery of capital works through other KiwiRail facilities or by third parties, where appropriate, to ensure timely completion of the overall capital program requirements.

Your Skillset:

  • Demonstrated effective leadership within rolling stock or similar heavy industrial environment
  • Experience managing large direct report team (100+ people)
  • Demonstrated Zero Harm leadership within a well performing business that understands “what good looks like”
  • Change management experience within rolling stock maintenance, project related workshop environment or similar heavy industrial.
  • Experience in leading operational productivity improvements such as Lean and 6-sigma, and inherent belief in their effectiveness and value
  • Demonstrated ability to positively lead teams in rolling stock maintenance or another heavy industrial environment, with a preference for face-to-face interaction and engaging of front-line personnel
