Your Role:

We are looking for an experienced Production / Process Engineer to be responsible for developing, scoping and implementing major changes to facilities, production equipment and production/maintenance processes across the Rolling Stock Asset Services group. Reporting to the Future State Leader, you will have primary accountability for delivering improvements to the facility and process capability of the RSAS group, in collaboration with the KiwiRail facilities group.

As the Production / Process Engineer – RSAS you will focus on the medium-to-long term future state of RSAS facilities, not the day-to-day issues, and work collaboratively with the RSAS group and the broader KiwiRail business to identify strategic improvements to facility layouts, equipment and processes to enable improvements in productivity and quality and thus future growth.

Your Skillset:

  • Demonstrated experience within rolling stock maintenance or other heavy industrial environment.
  • Production engineering and process improvement experience preferably within rolling stock maintenance or heavy industry
  • Process improvement design experience utilising lean tools such as process mapping and build stories
  • Implementation of significant process improvements within a heavy industrial environment
  • Procurement, installation and commissioning of equipment in a heavy industrial environment.
  • Data driven decision making, with an ability to make sound decisions where there is significant ambiguity
