Job Description

  • Take Wellington Drive's Reliability Program to the next level
  • Career growth with a company that will invest in you
  • Be part of a world leading Internet of Things success story

Take the lead in ensuring Wellington Drive's new and current products become, and remain, the most reliable in their class globally.

Wellington Drive Technologies is a high-tech manufacturing company with a global footprint. Our equipment monitoring and air movement solutions are used by major food and beverage brands worldwide. Wellington has offices in 10 countries and conducts R&D from its headquarters in Auckland, New Zealand, and turns over $60M (and growing) from its family of hardware and software products.

We are looking for a Reliability Engineer to ensure our new and current products become, and remain, the most reliable in their class globally. You will take the lead on taking our reliability program to the next level - including developing a more rigorous new product validation and production test program.

In this role, you will supply the knowledge to improve our data analysis and test design as well as conduct test work. You'll design, execute, and analyse reliability growth program activities - including planning and conducting regular destructive and accelerated life testing of production samples using HALT and other methods; investigating real-world operating conditions and developing test specifications based on these; and designing statistically valid test plans and methods.

You'll own the company reliability test infrastructure, including managing and operating the HALT test chamber; identifying necessary equipment and software to support reliability growth, making purchase recommendations, and participating in acquisition, commissioning, and maintenance; ensuring necessary test facilities and setups are completed in a timely fashion to meet test plans, and are valid, reliable, and safe; training and supervising others.

About you:

  • Self starting and self managing.
  • Five+ years in a similar role relating to volume manufactured electronics or electromechanical products.
  • Most likely you will have spent time with a large electronics, automotive, or consumer/industrial durables manufacturer.
  • Tertiary qualified in engineering or mathematics, certified in reliability engineering, with experience in HALT/ HASS testing.

You're a strong communicator who copes well with the fluidity of a smaller company and enjoys working with the practicalities of the "real world" as well as theory. You don't mind pitching in and getting your hands dirty for the success of the team!

What you need:

  • End-to-end capability in reliability engineering from understanding the product’s environment to presenting results, above and beyond the ability to run statistical analysis on presented data.
  • Good understanding of the theory, physical models and statistical techniques underpinning reliability engineering as it relates to electromechanical products.
  • Strong mathematical and statistical skills.
  • Good understanding of Design of Experiments and other aspects of test practice.

In return, we offer a competitive salary, a flexible and learning-oriented work environment in a high performing team, and the chance to participate in taking a world-leading Internet of Things success story to the next level.
