Road safety is our highest priority which places heightened expectations on our Road Safety Engineering team to deliver effective outcomes for Auckland.

The Opportunity

With a shift in priorities and increased funding, we are bolstering our Road Safety team and seeking experienced subject matter experts and leaders and are seeking Two Road Safety Engineering Team Leaders.

These positions will be pivotal in providing strategic operational guidance and thought leadership for safe management and operation of an integrated multimodal transport system for Auckland.

In addition, these roles will be responsible for collaborating with the Safety teams and providing operational input on the development of the Transport Network, strategic projects and business cases.

We are looking for expertise in developing and overseeing the delivery of a comprehensive programme of work for Road Safety and lead the implementation of the Safe Systems approach across the division.

About You

We are looking to hire experienced Engineers and leaders from Road Safety who possess:

  • A tertiary qualification in relevant field or extensive and comparable experience; Traffic/Transportation or Road Safety based engineering experience preferred
  • Demonstrated history or experience specialising in field- subject matter expert or industry leader
  • High level of exposure to public sector operations
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong strategic and operational relationships
  • Excellent knowledge of road safety design, engineering and the Safe Systems and Vision Zero approaches
  • Sound knowledge of the Urban KiwiRap process, Safer Networks Programme and their implementation
  • Sound understanding of the legislative environment regarding traffic and road safety in New Zealand
  • Able to sustain a high level of energy and positivity under pressure
  • Highly developed interpersonal and relationship skills with the ability to influence others
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
