Job Description

Are you a registered Midwife?

Do you dream of living and working in New Zealand and enjoying a great work-life balance?

One of New Zealand’s leading District Health Boards is looking for suitably qualified and experienced midwives to work in a variety of settings including delivery suite, maternity ward (ante and postnatal), outpatients day unit, community and primary birthing unit.

If you are looking for an exciting and diverse career in women’s health and want to experience the unique lifestyle within a beautiful region of New Zealand, we are welcoming applications now.
The Women’s Health Unit

The Women’s Health Unit has an 8 bedded delivery suite and a 22 bedded ante/postnatal ward. There are approximately 2000 births per year in the region.
As a progressive unit, they have been working on developing specialist roles such as Diabetes Midwife, Perinatal Midwife and Maternity Clinical Information Systems (MCIS) Midwife. They also have 24/7 Charge Midwife/ACM leadership and other midwifery leadership opportunities.
They are the only maternity unit in the country to introduce a new Induction of Labour Protocol which has dramatically reduced their caesarean section rates for women experiencing induction of labour. Their midwives work in partnership with women and their families/whanau, collaborating with the multi-disciplinary team to deliver effective care.
Hours of work will be up to full time working rostered and rotating shifts.
A competitive remuneration package is being offered as well as a generous relocation package.
To apply, you will need:
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a registered Midwife.
  • Applicants must be registered or eligible for registration with the New Zealand Midwifery Council.
Please note, support with your registration is available from a NZ based Midwife.

Deadline for applications:            31st March 2021
Interviews commence:                 March 2021
