Family Visas
New Zealand is one of the best places in the world to raise a family. If you have the right skills, work experience, and qualifications, and if you’d like to join your partner in New Zealand, then your entire family may also be able to take advantage of the country’s welcoming culture, world-class education and healthcare, and laid-back approach to life.

Family Visas Explained
Partnership Visa
Most work visa holders, resident visas, and citizens can support their partners to join them in New Zealand. You may be married, in a civil union, or a de facto relationship.
Culturally Arranged Marriage Visa
This visa is for those who are intending to travel to New Zealand for the purpose of marrying a New Zealand citizen or resident, where their spouse has been selected following an identified cultural tradition.
Dependent Child Visa
New Zealand citizens, residents, and some temporary visa holders may also support their eligible dependent children on their visas. Depending on their age, they may also be granted visas to attend school in New Zealand.
Parent / Grandparent Visa
If your child is an adult New Zealand citizen or resident and meets sponsorship requirements (e.g., income requirements), you can apply to visit in and out of the country or live in New Zealand permanently.
