As a crane operator you are responsible for performing routine tasks, in assisting with machine operating to hoist, lift, move and place materials, products, equipment, in sites and areas such as factories, yards, wharves in a safe and efficient manner.

 

General duties include but are not limited to:

  • Crane and machine operating
  • Liaise with dispatch coordinator / yard manager / riggers / chasers for upcoming deliveries and rearrange products for efficient loading.
  • Create lifting plans with Production Manager for order of lifting and ensure correct lifting apparatus is used.
  • Place and secure lifters to ensure panel will lift correctly and safely.
  • Ensure remedial work in yard is completed to meet delivery deadlines.
  • Check reinforcing and starters.
  • Ensure Dispatch are advised if any issues with panels are found.
  • Review crane lifting chains, slings, clutches for wear and hazards.
  • Strip formwork and remove strong backs.
  • Clear and strip previous day’s production
  • General site tidying
  • Any other tasks as reasonably required.
  • Comply with all aspects of any contract, project or task and deliver customer services that meets or exceed the expectation of the customer or business.

 Person specifications (competencies, attributes, experience, qualifications)

  • 3 years’ relevant experience
  • Can work unsupervised or part of a team.
  • Willing to undergo pre-employment drug screening.
  • Able to complete basic paperwork when needed.
  • Understands and practices the principles of zero harm.
  • Calm, professional temperament and good communication skills
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work well under pressure.
  • Able to problem solve and manage time well.
